The South Transept
Apart from the South wall, which was re-built in 1874, the stone-work here is original Saxon. The South Transept was formerly used as a chapel dedicated to the Virgin as "Our Lady of Pity," and was known as "The Pity Porch." The wooden panel on the South wall is a present day piéta.
High up on the West wall is an inlaid sounding board, or tester, from the original three–decker pulpit, used in the church in 1823.
Today, the South Transept is used as a creche area.
